October Artist of the Month Georgia Sprague

“I have spent the last decade somewhat divorced from my work and therefore myself. I believed that my primary function, having shifted to “mother,” was only to survive and provide, and this left me in a state of frustration and dissatisfaction. My creativity struggled to be seen in the realm of hustle and grind— but just as I persisted, it persisted with me. So I am rebuilding my body of work, piece by piece, through acrylic paintings of familiar faces. All of the subjects of my pieces are personal experiences and largely moments that I have shared with my daughter: garden friends, trips to aquariums, and even a few beloved pets. I have realized that my time spent away from the art world is exactly what brought me back, and I wouldn’t change a minute of it.”
