Kim Moore – Director

Kim, a life long resident of Mathews, VA, has been with the school staff for six years. After being with the School for a few months, she formed a partnership with the Mathews Active Lifestyle Center and the Riverside Convalescent Home, taking craft projects to them, thus beginning the Bay School outreach. She now manages 20 outreach programs that the School offers. Her interests have always been to give back to the community and to help those who are in need. Kim lives on Gwynn's Island with her husband, Darryl and their two boys.

Grace Small - Operations Manager

Grace comes to the Bay School from the position as Settlement Processor for Title Associates. She earned her BS in Business Managment from Christopher Newport University in 1990. Since then she has worked in managment in the food services industry and for a mail order company. Grace's interests are reading, camping and scrapbooking. She lives in Gloucester with her husband, Peter.

Judi Yard – Gallery Manager

Judi grew up in Connecticut. At the University of Connecticut she received her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. She then spent 20 years in either retail or hospital pharmacies. Between 1979 and 1982, she received her certificate of Master Gardening from the Utah State University. She also volunteered at the University’s extension office. Art has always been a hobby for her and after she retired in 1999 it became more of a vocation. Judi was secretary for the Litchfield Hills Audubon Society for 4 years just before she retired. She and her husband moved to Mathews in September, 2000. She started volunteering at the Bay School in April, 2001 and became an employee in September, 2001. She has a grown daughter and son.

Steph Brown - Administrative Assistant

Steph Brown has been self-employed as a graphic designer since 1985. Originally from Pennsylvania, she has always had a love of the arts. Pencil drawing, pen & ink and watercolor are her favorite mediums, which led to teaching classes in PA at the art supply and framing shop she owned from 1999 – 2006. Her background includes trade show exhibit design, drafting, architectural design, print design and corporate identity development. She enjoys teaching more than anything else, and feels that anyone who has the desire can create – it’s just a matter of helping the hands communicate what the heart feels.

Virginia Coyle – Sales Support

Virginia has been working for the Bay School for many years as part-time support. She works in the gallery, manages the library and other tasks asked of her. She has taken over the responsibility of the art projects at the Mathews Boy’s and Girl’s club twice monthly and the Laurel Shelter. Her family is from Mathews and Virginia came back to her roots about 13 years ago. She is married and has two grown children. Virginia has been interested in art all of her life and sells her folk art at the Bay School other galleries.
