Community Connections
The Bay School exists for the artistic and cultural enrichment of the regional community.
The Bay School partners with groups such as the Mathews Family YMCA, Mathews Woman's Club, the Mathews Boys and Girls Club and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Mathews Offices to find ways to make art accessible and fun for everyone.
Through individual, foundation, local and state agencies' support, we provide art programs to the following organizations:
-
Mathews Boys and Girls Club
-
Riverside Convalescent Home
-
The Laurel Shelter for the adult women and children
-
Kingston Parish Pre-School
-
Mathews Head Start
-
Mathews County Special Education children
-
Mathews County 2nd and 3rd grade children - art in the SOL curriculum
-
Sanders Assisted Living
-
Urbanna Adult Day Care
-
Brambles Adult Day Center
-
The Lewis B. Puller Center of Gloucester.
In August we offer a free week of art for ages 4-14. This week is sponsored by the Mathews Woman's Club and funded, in part, by the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children.
In February, we host a Family Art day. This is a free day of art activities, music and fun for children.
